Controlled Burn is BNDL’s most direct record. Where the other albums move in gradients, this one has edges. It knows what it’s doing and does it without asking for permission.

Walk the Dog sounds deceptively routine until you realize it’s been leading you somewhere. Brine Dividend at 6:13 takes the most time to pay out and is worth every second. Hostile Takeover at track three — also released as a standalone single — is an unwanted acquisition processed through sound. The target doesn’t see it coming. The target rarely does.

Higher Power and Ergonomix form the center of the album: the former reaching toward something above the system, the latter optimizing the chair you sit in while doing it. Pandemic at 7:34 is the longest track on the record and the one that most clearly understands scale — what it sounds like when something spreads beyond the ability to contain it. It is not alarming. It is documentary.

The album closes with Full Circle, Blockbuster, and Corrective Measures — a three-track after-action report. Full Circle ties off the loop. Blockbuster acknowledges that some failures are large enough to name. Corrective Measures is the form you fill out when the controlled burn goes slightly outside the designated perimeter. There is always a form.
